Mrs. Essak received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a Teaching Certificate from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor Campus. She is a current member of the National Association for the Education of the Young Child (NAEYC). Among her expertise, she brings to our Center a demonstration of 40 years of experience with children from ages 6 weeks-5 years in various settings. This includes formal classroom settings and extra-curricular activities. She has taught both Preschool and Prekindergarten at St. Mary CDC and has various experiences in the public Elementary schools. She has headed a Vacation Bible School program for 20 years as well as directed the annual St. Mark Kids Camp for 23 years. Her philosophy of education for young and older children is simple: be enthusiastic and pass on the love of learning; it will last a life time with students. Her approach to discipline is also simple: be supportive and listen to each child before redirecting and passing on positive values and morals. This elevates the self-concept of each student to promote a positive learning experience. Mrs. Essak enjoys crafts, traveling, cooking and spending time with her family. Mrs. Nagwa Essak appreciates parent’s ability to entrust their most precious belongings, their children, to her care.

Mrs. Kirsten Morgan (Director)

Kirsten Morgan is the Director of St. Mary’s Child Development Center. Kirsten is a highly qualified Director. She has held various positions including Volunteer, Assistant, Lead Teacher, and Director. She has worked as a private nanny, in-home daycare, as well as privately owned and corporate owned centers. The variety of positions has given Kirsten the experience and understanding of every aspect of child care. She has been the Director and Business Manager of a privately owned daycare center for the past 4 years. She was able to work with the staff and owner to not only rebuild the failing Center, but to expand into a larger building and new location. Kirsten has her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, both from Baker College. Her education and work background have given her an extremely open way of working. Kirsten’s philosophy of education is to maintain open communication between herself, the staff, and the parents. Open communication is the key to the success of each child in the center on an individual and class basis. When parents, teachers and management work together, the child is given the best opportunities to thrive and learn in a cooperative environment. Kirsten believes that maintaining a present and active role within the Center, learning every classrooms schedule and the way the classes work together help to ensure a cohesive team working towards the same goal – the education of our children. In addition, her love for children and their education is prominent. Kirsten has 3 children of her own. Her stepson is 8, her older son is 5, and her youngest is 6 weeks. She enjoys spending time outdoors – camping and hiking – as well as scrapbooking, cooking and baking.
